Leading European members of the picture library industry assembled in the Thistle Hotel Hyde Park, London, for the MILE Project's inaugural meeting on 11th January 2007.

Originated and developed by Jessica Tier, Project Manager, the MILE Project aims to improve the harmonization of digital picture libraries across Europe. MILE stands for Metadata Image Library Exploitation.

The host organization, The Bridgeman Art Library, was chosen to receive EC funding from more than 300 similar proposals, and will run a series of seminars in Paris, Barcelona, and other European cities over the next three years. The expertise and valuable knowledge of all the partners ensured the success of the Kick-Off Meeting, which promises well for the project's overall outcomes.
